Based off of Abbie Hoffman’s Steal This Book, Steal This Bench is focused on the reclamation of power structures, working around the system, and most importantly, creating new sources of information. DIY printing has become increasingly important as the stream of information becomes monopolized. This functional printing press bench is designed to be deconstructable for ease of transportation, and prints using the pressure from sitting to lessen the physicality of mass printing.
To print,
*removed the hand turned roller from beneath the glass
*apply ink to glass
*roll onto print
*lift press lid
*register print on lip
*register paper on edge of print area
*close print lid
*apply pressure to lid by sitting
*remove paper
*repeat
